Hi All,
So against my better judgment I've decided to gamble on two movies. The first is "Across The Universe" and believe me... renting that goes against every fibre of my being. It reeks of "Moulin Rouge" (Baz Luhrmann should be hanged, drawn and quartered) and that movie made me want to end the existence of man for good. I don't know why this movie has peaked my interest, but it certainly has. I'll let you know how it goes.
The second movie actually came out on DVD a good while ago and I noticed that it was on HBO so I decided to record it. It's "Alpha Dog" and it's another movie that prompted multiple red flags: teenage drug/gangsta/thug life in Los Angeles, Emile Hirsch, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE... I'm both pleased and surprised to report that it's an excellent little film. It starts out a little thick-headed as I imagined the entire movie would be, but it becomes very layered and cerebral with top performances coming from Ben Foster (one of the best onscreen psychos I've seen in ages), Anton Yelchin (as a young man who's been "kidnapped") and yes, Timberlake. It's not a stretch for Timberlake considering what I've seen from interviews and performances, but it's a hell of a first outing. There's an acting career there if he decides to pursue it. The movie has mild violence and large amounts of drug use and profanity so if that's not your bag go ahead and give this a pass. But if that's not a factor I think it's worth viewing. I only watched it this morning but it's been on my mind for a good deal of the day, which is always a good sign.

2) My sister Jackie loved and recommended this book but I think I'm going to pass. Our tastes tend to vary...
3) The Patriots lost the Superbowl but at least the fans are being gracious about it (for the record, I'm one of the nice, intelligent fans who handled the defeat with aplomb).
4) Pictures of guys in clubs with spray tans. I have to get to scummy New Jersey at some point...
5) 20 of the Greatest Plot Twists Ever (spoilers!).
6) The Grand Theft Auto 4 website is up and running.
